Toronto(21 May 2012)

SeaWell Networks Inc., leaders in advanced video advertising delivery solutions for network operators, today announced that Avail-TVN has chosen SeaWell Spectrum to enable online delivery of encrypted video to any device as part of its recently announced AnyView TV Everywhere service.

AnyView uses adaptive bitrate streaming to deliver video, detecting a user's bandwidth and device capacity in real time and delivering encoded files at the appropriate data rate to connected consumer electronics devices. Avail-TVN selected Spectrum for its ability to dynamically repackage one ABR format into another, eliminating the need to encode and store content in all formats and removing the cost of licensing, building and maintaining multiple client applications. Format repackaging is done on the fly, meaning that no content is processed until requested by a client, resulting in significant network efficiencies and cost reductions. Spectrum currently supports Apple HLS, Adobe HDS and Microsoft Smooth ABR protocols and SeaWell is working with the standards committee on the DASH protocol. Spectrum also provides encryption (DRM translation) of content on a per user session level from both encrypted and unencrypted content sources, ensuring secure delivery of content to users.

“The number of different devices that consumers are using to watch video is increasing and service providers need new and innovative ways to deliver content securely and efficiently,” said Michael Kazmier, CTO of Avail-TVN. “SeaWell’s solution enables us to deliver to any device, without the overhead of building and maintaining multiple infrastructures and client applications.”

“SeaWell is thrilled to add Avail-TVN as a strategic customer as the company builds out its digital video service offering,” said Susan George, SVP of Sales and Distribution of SeaWell Networks. “Together, SeaWell Networks and Avail-TVN are creating the industry standard in TV Everywhere services, providing unparalleled cost efficiencies and enabling service providers to better serve consumers in their quest to watch high quality video on any device.”

SeaWell will demonstrate its Spectrum video delivery solutions at The Cable Show conference and exhibition at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center May 21-23. Please join us at SeaWell booth #2051.
