Vuclip Reports Nearly 80 Percent of U.S. Women Find Their Mobile Viewing Increasing and Movie Clips Are the Main Attraction

Survey of 2,700 U.S. Women Reveals Trends in Mobile Viewing Behavior and Preferences

MILPITAS, CA(11 Jul 2012)

Vuclip, the world's largest independent mobile video service, today announces the results of a recent survey of women with 2,700 U.S. respondents. The survey found that 78 percent of women believe their time spent viewing content on mobile is increasing. Also, the survey found that approximately 55 percent of women are spending more than 30 minutes per day on their mobiles viewing content. This is comparable to the time they spend on television, print and radio combined.

Aside from voice and text, approximately 60 percent of women admit that their primary use for their mobiles is entertainment. More than 50 percent of respondents said they enjoy watching movie clips on their mobiles and would like to see more content ofthis kind. Notably, this far exceeded interest in news, sports and celebrity gossip.

“Today’s woman is busy, engaged and full of life. She wants to make the most of every moment and when she takes a break, she’s increasingly turning to her mobile phone forentertainment,” said Judith Coley, vice president of marketing for Vuclip.

Men say they spend a comparable amount of time on their mobiles, but a greater number, 70 percent, turn to entertainment as the top use for their mobiles outside of voice and text. Although men also prefer movie content, sports are also top of mind.

This survey was conducted over five days in June 2012 with global women mobile users. Globally, there were nearly 40,000 responses, with 2,700 women respondents from the U.S. alone. Users were provided with eight multiple choice questions and had theoption to participate or opt out. No incentives were provided for responding.
