The growth of OA research

New report discusses the future of OA mega-journals, credibility and long term cost implications.

Research from Simba Information shows that approximately a third of all research articles are published open access (this includes articles that are made open after an embargo period).

The Report Open Access Journal Publishing 2016-2020 describes OA as a fast growing – if not profitable – sub-segment of scholarly journal publishing. OA publishing is growing at twice the rate of ‘the complete spectrum of research articles’.

The report has been created for consultants and publishing executives and includes Simba’s market predictions for 2020; metrics about title and article growth; analysis of the top ten OA repositories and geographic/regional breakdowns of the OA publishing landscape.
