LinkedIn sold to Microsoft

Microsoft's biggest acquisition ever.

Microsoft is to pay more than $25billion for the professional networking site LinkedIn.

The move extends Microsoft’s reach into corporate social networking and professional content – it already owns organisational sharing tool Yammer.

Despite falling shares prices, LinkedIn remains one of the better performing publicly listed tech companies.  LinkedIn has a presence in over 200 countries and has 433 million registered users.

Just a reminder to readers - LinkedIn owns SlideShare (Thanks Karen Blakeman for the prompt!)
