Google – redesigning search results

A cleaner grid design is being tested.

Google has begun to test a new Material Design layout for its search results. Some users are noticing subtle visual changes in their search results – individual search results are boxed in white, against a light grey background.

Other minor changes include the settings icon changing to three dots, and changing the colour of the magnifying glass icon.

The changes are in line with Google’s Material Design approach, which will eventually be applied across all of Google’s sites.

If you’re not seeing the new design, screenshots have been captured and shared by many people – Endgadget has produced a gif to highlight differences between traditional google search and the new design.
