UK universities: Shared services mean massive savings

Shared services seen as 'vital' for the future of HE.


A report exploring the potential of collaboration and shared services in the UK's higher education (HE) sector suggests great savings have been achieved – but that even more can and should be done.

The report (Collaboration and shared services in UK higher education) highlights savings made by the sector of over £1billion between 2005 and 2011.

However, the report believes there is potential for higher education to improve processes and create new efficiencies.
