Germany: Amazon strikes

Ongoing dispute affects distribution centre.

An ongoing dispute over wages has brought fresh strikes to the German online retailer.  Germany is Amazon’s second largest market after the US and the company employs 9000 workers.

The trades union Verdi has been campaigning to align Amazon’s wages with levels in the wider Germany distribution centre industry.  Amazon has stated it will not negotiate as its workers do not work in distribution centres but in ‘logistics sites’ – a sector with lower wages.
