France: Shakespeare First Folio found in Library

Cataloguing error meant treasure remained 'lost'.

A rare copy of William Shakespeare’s First Folio dating from 1623 has been discovered in Saint-Omer library in France.  It is believed to be one of just 230 in existence.

The work was missing several pages, including the title page, and had been catalogued as a later work.

The library at Saint-Omer holds many other treasures, including one of only 48 copies of the 15th century Gutenberg Bibles.

The newly discovered Shakespeare First Foloio will be digitised.
