Percona Releases Percona Server for MySQL and Updates its Monitoring Performance Platform

Percona, the company that delivers enterprise-class MySQL, MongoDB and other open source database solutions and services, is releasing a new platform and updating one of its top monitoring performance solutions.

Percona will be releasing Percona Server for MySQL 5.7 that includes the MyRocks storage engine. The combination of Percona Server for MySQL and MyRocks will enable database administrators to achieve more throughput for high-volume, write-intensive workloads.

Optimized for modern hardware, the product requires less storage space and reduces maintenance costs, providing increased ROI for on-premises and cloud-based applications.

“MyRocks has proven to be a superior storage engine for high-volume, write-intensive applications, and we are proud to be working with Facebook to include MyRocks in a package that delivers all the other advantages of Percona Server for MySQL, including greater performance, scalability, availability and visibility,” said Peter Zaitsev, co-founder and CEO of Percona. “The combined solution will enable our customers to do significantly more processing at a much lower cost, leading to improved ROI and a better end user experience.”

Additionally the company is releasing  Percona Monitoring and Management 1.3 (PMM), a significant update to the free and open-source platform for managing and monitoring MySQL, MariaDB and MongoDB performance.

This updated version adds new capabilities for improving the performance of MongoDB deployments and the MyRocks storage engine for MySQL.

Percona Monitoring and Management provides point-in-time visibility and historical trending of database performance that enables DBAs and application developers to optimize the performance of their databases.

Percona Monitoring and Management now includes Query Analytics (QAN) for MongoDB and MyRocks storage engine support.

“As organizations increasingly rely on open source databases for their fast-growing, mission-critical production environments, having tools for discovering bottlenecks that impact application performance is essential,” said Zaitsev. “Percona Monitoring and Management enables enterprises to deploy a free, open source tool to ensure their data is working as efficiently as possible.”
